DON'T KNOW WHAT MODULE IS BEST FOR
YOUR APPLICATION?
WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF LENS TO
SELECT?
LET US HELP WITH YOUR SELECTION
A Word about brightness/wavelength selection:
When visible diode modules first came out, they were
available in a deep ruby red beam color- 670 nanometers (nm). This is the
measure of the color of the beam or wavelength of the laser light.
As time went on, other wavelengths were produced commercially
as research and manufacturing progressed. New wavelengths were 650 nm and
635 nm. To date, the brightest red diode modules are 635 nm. Now with advances
in materials, other wavelengths are available, i.e., green.
Why are the shorter wavelengths brighter?
For most applications where a human will be viewing the
beam, and the brightest beam is desired, choose 635 nm. The eye is most
sensitive in the green area of the color spectrum. That is given the same
output power, a green laser beam will appear much brighter than a red one.
Any laser module whose color is closer to green will appear brighter, and
the 635 & 650 nm are in this category compared with 670 nm. The price
is slightly higher for these since the manufacturing is more complex. Note:
Many electronic detection systems have sensitivities farther from the green,
actually in the near IR. An IR module or a 670 nm wavelength may be best
if the beam does not need to be seen by eye.
Are you looking for the brightest beam
