These sockets are used to insert
diodes and make a temporary electrical connection. Use them for prototyping, testing diodes, etc. We know some who utilize these in production, using glue on the diode so the pins won't become dislodged over time. Use it for TO-18/ 5.6mm laser diodes. ~ 7.6mm diameter at top flange w/ notch/ flat. 6.3mm body diameter X 7mm long. 3 pins with small solder tabs @ ~ 3.3 mm in length.
